We are proud to announce that the GDSI consortium has been awarded and begun implementing the Independent Joint Final Evaluation of the Southern African Migration Management Project (SAMM).
This EU-funded initiative, implemented by ILO, IOM, UNHCR, and UNODC, covers 16 countries in the Southern African and Indian Ocean region: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Running from 2020 to 2024, SAMM addressed Labour Migration and Mixed Migration. It aligns with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by focusing on:
- Enhancing rights-based migration policies.
- Improving legal channels and protection for migrant workers and refugees.
- Supporting governments and regional bodies like SADC, COMESA, and the Indian Ocean Commission.
This evaluation will analyze the project’s impact, sustainability, and lessons learned, ensuring the delivery of accountable and actionable insights for better migration management strategies.
