The Guide for Hospital Relocation (Decanting), developed with the support from GDSI under the JASPER project, is designed to assist those in charge of relocating hospitals at various levels: hospital directors and managers, relocation companies, local and health authorities, and other stakeholders.
Relocating a hospital is a complex operation that can span up to five years from the decision to relocate to the actual move. Over this period, challenges such as leadership changes, evolving economic contexts, and the loss of institutional knowledge can hinder execution.
This guide aims to be a practical resource by sharing existing experiences and providing a structured, adaptable framework.
Key features include

- It provides a structured and adaptable framework to support decision-makers, planners, and hospital staff.
- The annexes equip stakeholders with working tools to anticipate risks, implement effective strategies, and achieve a smooth transition, minimising disruptions to patient care.
