Company History
GDSI was established in 1991, originally operating out of the Centre of Development Studies at the National University of Ireland, Galway. In the 30 years since its inception GDSI has become a leading international development consulting company with a catalogue of clients including the European Commission, The World Bank, Asian Development Bank, the United Nations, Department for International Development, the Danish International Development Agency and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs. We have worked in over 100 countries worldwide and received recognition for delivering sustainable solutions to economic, social and institutional challenges in developing and emerging countries.
Our Mission
The GDSI mission is to provide sustainable solutions to development problems by leveraging the highest quality local and international expertise, across a wide range of technical areas.
Multi Disciplinary Expertise
Our multi-disciplinary core team of experts span economics, management, enterprise development, public administration and finance, education, social policy, law and human rights. In addition, GDSI maintains a registered database of almost 6,000 international experts across a range of disciplines – allowing us to tailor our services to the individual client and project.
Where we Work
GDSI has worked in over 100 countries with a primary focus on developing and emerging economies. We have implemented technical assistance projects in Western and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Turkey, the Caucasus, Africa, Central and South Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Pacific. As one of the first western companies to establish consulting services in the former Soviet Union, GDSI boasts both impressive practical experience and detailed understanding of the operation and transformation of transition economies. We have also delivered services for national, regional and local development agencies in Ireland and European Union Member States.
