The overall objective of this assignment is to support the European Investment Bank and the European Commission in the fulfilment of Ocean and Waters Mission objectives by identifying and advising project promoters aligned with those objectives, with the ultimate goal of providing financing opportunities to innovative blue economy project promoters.

The assignment is planned to start in October for the duration of one year.

We are looking for 2 key experts with the following profiles:

Team Leader (Category 1) – Advisor on the sustainability of investments in low carbon/environmentally sustainable technologies (approx. 30 w/d)

Qualifications:

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in economics, finance, business administration or ocean engineering, chemistry, biology, geography, environmental sciences, environmental sustainability or related discipline.

General professional experience

  • At least 15 years of work experience in low-carbon and/or environmentally sustainable technologies innovation and/or infrastructures

Specific professional experience

  • At least 10 years of work experience in blue economy relevant sectors, including project development and international experience
  • At least 10 years of proven experience in the management of consultancy projects in a senior position, as evidenced by 5 previous assignments
  • Experience in advising businesses in relation to sustainability investments, as evidenced by 5 previous assignments.
  • Specific knowledge of and expertise in the sectors, as specified in the Ocean and Waters Mission Charter, demonstrated by working experience in blue economy sectors, would be considered as an asset.

Key Expert 2: Blue Economy Expert (Category 2) – Ocean technologies expert (approx. 120 w/d)

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in ocean and maritime engineering, chemistry, biology, geography, environmental and marine sciences, environmental sustainability or related discipline.

General professional experience

  • At least 10 years of work experience in low-carbon and/or environmentally sustainable technologies innovation and/or infrastructures

Specific professional experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in blue economy related activities/studies/projects, including international experience
  • Specific knowledge of and expertise in technical aspects of blue economy sectors, sustainability and/or related areas demonstrated by working experience in ocean technologies (such as acqua-culture, autonomous shipping, underwater robots, sensors, etc)
  • Hands-on experience in the preparation of market studies, data analysis, statistics, as evidenced by concrete past examples
