Dr. Georgios Chatzigiagkou

Regional Director for Southeast Europe


Georgios holds a PhD in Politics from the University of York. He specialises in Public Administration reform, Public Financial Management reform; Rule of law and justice reform, education reform and culture as well as business development. He brings more than 10 years’ first-hand, practical experience as director, project manager and technical writer.  Georgios has successfully led the acquisition and management of a total project portfolio of more than €26m, most recently, the €4m Local Government Finance Reform Programme in Serbia (2016-2023). Georgios is fluent in English, Greek and Croatian/ Serbian.

What do you like to do in your spare time? 

I like reading books on AI, Big History, watching films as well as hitting the gym. 

What is your favourite country you have visited?

Apart from Greece and Croatia? That’d be Switzerland I think.

Who inspires you the most?

Lately, Yuval Noah Harari.

How do you deal with stressful situations?

Taking a step back, assess the given situation, let time sink in before proceeding with my crisis response (trying to be a Stoic!)
