Recognition of GDSI team's achievements in implementation of the Project “Review of Good Practices to Develop a Systemic Approach to Aligning the National Qualifications Framework with Vocational and Higher Education Programmes”

On November 29, 2018, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Astana, hosted the Forum “The Future of the Labour Market: New Opportunities”. The Forum was organized by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Kazakhstan Foreign Investors’ Council Association (KFICA).

The Forum was attended by the members of the Parliament and Government, representatives of international organizations and consulting companies, international and Kazakhstani experts, major Kazakhstan employers and foreign investors.

During the Forum the results of the first stage of the “Skills and Jobs” project, implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the financial and technical support from the World Bank, were announced.  The best consulting companies, that provided services  for the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Bank within this programme, were awarded. We are very proud that GDSI Limited was one of such consulting companies. Our company received a Letter of Appreciation from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Bank for the successful implementation of the Project “Review of Good Practices to Develop a Systemic Approach to Aligning the National Qualifications Framework with Vocational and Higher Education Programmes”.

As a result of this project, based on the best international practices in the development of educational programmes matching the requirements of the labour market, GDSI Limited experts developed the “Guidelines for Developing Educational Programmes in the Context of the National Qualifications Framework and Labour Market Requirements” for the education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Guidelines were also highly appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The implementation of this project aimed at fulfilling the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev, voiced in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan on January 10, 2018: “It is necessary to develop modern standards for all major professions. In these standards, employers and businessmen clearly state what knowledge, skills and competencies employees should have. It is necessary, on the basis of the requirements of professional standards, to develop new or update existing educational programmes. ”

At present, on the basis of the Guidelines, new pilot education programmes are being developed for the Higher Education and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

The Letter of Appreciation was presented to the Resident Director of GDSI Limited by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Madina Abylkasymova.

The Minister also awarded the staff of GDSI Limited, Dr. Zhamilya Bopieva and Mr. Askar Omarov for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of this “Skills and Jobs” project.

We express our special gratitude to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Bank for their high appreciation of our contribution to the development of the country.
